This Week, via iphone. Week 60

This week we celebrated love, did lots of laughing and made our yearly batch of laundry detergent.

On Monday David and I celebrated our 7 year anniversary. SEVEN years. I seriously cannot believe that it has been that long since the night we said I Do. We technically celebrated a couple weekends ago (when my mom was here to babysit) by going out to dinner and getting away for a night in a hotel. So on Monday we had a low key family celebration, going out for Thai food with Amelia and coming home to a chocolate cake.

For some reason, Amelia was extra hilarious this week. As her vocabulary expands, we have the funniest conversations about the most random things that happen to be on her mind. It always surprises me the things she comes up with and the connections she makes all on her own. I originally posted this on FB, but wanted to put it here, mainly for my own record keeping.

Amelia: Yay! It's raining! I love the rain!
Me: You do?
Amelia: I love it and want to give it a hug. It makes the trees grow up high high to the sky
and trees are nice and help us breathe, and I like to breathe. Breathing makes me run really fast
and grow big big big and be like a dinosaur. Raaawwwr!

Other funny things this week:
1. Horseback riding in pajamas while doing ninja kicks and yelling "Hiiii-yaaaa" as she ropes bears and monkeys and locks them up in a tower so they can't tickle her. (I have no idea on this one)
2. At the MOMS club Easter egg hunt she was seriously offended that she was put in the little kid group, you know, with the other 1 - 3 year olds. She told me they probably just didn't know how big she really is.

This week we also made a batch of homemade laundry detergent. I seriously love this stuff. It smells fantastic, cleans better than the store bought stuff I used to buy, has fewer chemicals and lasts forever. The last batch I made lasted my family of 3 almost a year and a half. And the best part is the whole batch cost about $20 to make.

I didn't do a tutorial because tutorial aren't really my thing and this is NOT my recipe. I take 0% credit for it's amazingness. I found this recipe here and follow her recipe exactly. I do grate my FelsNaptha quite a bit finer than she does, just because I think it mixes better and I like it that way.

Friday we needed to be out of the apartment for a while for some maintenance to be done, so Amelia and I spent the afternoon running errands and just killing time, which of course meant a trip to TJMaxx. For whatever reason, Amelia loves browsing at TJMaxx and gets pretty excited when we go there. She must be my kid or something.

Other weekend fun included smiley face pancakes for dinner on Friday night and Saturday afternoon dancing in the sunshine. That last picture? It makes my heart so happy.  :)

Linking up with InstaFriday and High Five for Friday.

  2. I love making my own laundry detergent!! I especially loved when my husband made a comment about how it wasn't going to work as well and I got to tell him it must be working fine since I'd been using it for weeks and he hadn't noticed a difference, LOL!!
